art journal weeks 23-24
May 28- June 10: Our first weeks of summer break! The weather has been beautiful so we've made the most of it with plenty of (blow up) pool and slip n slide time, and backyard fun with friends and popsicles. My boys and I worked on our summer wish lists to decide what we'll do on days they don't have camp/ I have work time. I did a ton of summer cleaning, including the boys closets and clothing turnover (finally!) for the season, their bookshelves, and the toys in their rooms. Our upstairs bedrooms always seem to come last when it...

May 14-27: This was yet another a busy couple of weeks! We celebrated Mother's Day with a family trip to the movie theater to see "Super Mario Bros." I probably would have rather seen "Are You There God, It's Me, Margaret," but a. I didn't want to go see a movie alone on Mother's Day and b. "Super Mario Bros." was stinkin' cute! Great family activity. The boys gave me a kindle e-reader as a gift and I have been using it every single day since! I've read Winter Garden and Romantic Comedy on it, and then listened to A Flicker...

April 30-May 13: We celebrated my nephew's 6th birthday with family and a roller skating party. Lately we have been roller skating a LOT! Nolan also had a field trip to the same skating rink during this time. It was fun; they tied in a STEM lesson and had the kids take apart a roller skate and put it back together. Nolan had his very first week of state standardized testing. It kind of makes me sad that we start that so young, but the school made it as fun and rewarding as they could for the kids. I'm working my way...

April 16-29: We've been working more on landscaping now that Spring is fully here. Sean does most of this but I have been working with some local companies to figure out a drainage solution for an issue we're having in our backyard. Hopefully that will be complete before the end of summer! Nolan had a fun event after school where the third graders stayed late for a pizza party and watched the movie Sing. More scouts meetings, which meant I got a little bit of one on one time with Nolan while Sean was at a meeting with August, and...

April 2-15: We took the boys to a St. Louis Cardinals baseball game on opening weekend. This was August's first game! There were THREE home runs within the first five minutes of the game. I had to explain to him that wasn't typical, and baseball isn't usually so fast paced, exciting, and full of fireworks in such a short time ha! We had a local election which for us means no school (schools are polling places) so we went to the library to hang out and check out books after voting. We traveled to my parents' house on the other...
